Voting preparations in Harrison County
Voting preparation on the Coast continues as Election Day is almost here.
Currently, absentee voting is taking place. The deadline for that is November 3rd. Harrison County Circuit Clerk Connie Ladner tells News 25 between the absentee voters who voted in the office and mail in votes, over 1700 ballots are expected to be accounted for.
Next on the agenda for the election commissioners was to test the machines with the logistics and accuracy testing.
Ladner admits there is still a little more work to do as far as preparation. However, she likes the overall interest in the election from Harrison County voters. “We did have a few thousand people additionally that registered which is a good number, too. So, it’s been a really good election season and I think it’s going to be a good turnout on Election Day.”
Ladner also mentioned the ‘reach a voter’ tool. If you text ‘VOTE 2018’ to 70000 you will receive text alerts from the Circuit Clerk’s Office with election updates.
