Voters heads to the polls in Gulfport to vote in Ward 2 Special Election
GULFPORT, Miss. (WXXV)- Ward 2 residents in Gulfport will head to the polls Tuesday for a special election to choose their next representative on the city council.
Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. at two precincts: the West Side Community Center or the Francis X. Collins Lifetime Fitness Center.
Election officials encourage every eligible voter to participate in the election.
There are four candidates on the ballot to replace Ron Roland, the longtime councilman who resigned in April due to health reasons. Gulfport Public Information Officer Ravin Nettles said, “Voting is our right. Ward 2 has the chance to elect someone in the special election to represent their concerns in their area. The new council person will come in and join the rest of Gulfport City Council to help make decisions for the city.”
Bryan Caldwell, Ron Ruland, Howard Page, and Kelsea Bonds are the people you’ll see on your ballot if you are a Ward 2 resident.
They’ll serve until the next regular city council elections are held in a few years.
