Voters head to the polls for Gulfport Ward 5 Special Election

Gulfport’s Ward 5 Special Election is just under two hours away from wrapping up.

The polls opened at 7 a.m. today and will stay open until 7 p.m. tonight.

In the last city election, Ward 5 accounted for 350 votes, but new county lines have been drawn since then so more votes are expected.

Poll workers said there was a good turn out with a steady flow of voters as many supporters of the Ward 5 candidates hit the streets to implore Gulfport residents to vote.

We will have the results of the special election as WXXV News 25’s Lucas Warren will be live outside of Gulfport City Hall at 9 p.m.
