Volunteers work on Pearlington community garden
Volunteers were out early Friday morning building a community garden for one Hancock County community.
The new garden is located on the grounds of the Pearlington Public Library and is made possible by a grant from Coast Electric.
Not only did Coast Electric provide the grant, employees showed up in force to build, plant, and maintain the garden!
Library officials say the garden will be used to teach kids and families in the area about healthy eating and sustainability.
“We’re just so grateful that we have the opportunity to provide a project that is impactful to the community such as a community garden,” said John Brdecka, the executive director of the Harrison County Library System. “We’ll be able to produce fresh produce right in the community, year in and year in, for generations to come.”
A meeting is being held on May 25 at the library to talk more about the garden and how you can help maintain it.
The meeting begins at 8 AM and should wrap up around noon.
