Volunteers remove three tons of debris from Pascagoula River

At a Renew our Rivers cleanup event on the Pascagoula River, more than 50 volunteers removed more than three tons of debris from the river.

That information comes from Mississippi Power, who started the program in 2005.

Since the program began, volunteers have removed more than 400 tons of debris from more than 20 lakes, rivers, and streams across Southeast Mississippi.

A fun way to put that into perspective, that is equivalent to 4,500 kangaroos or 1,500 pigs.
