Volunteers prepare for wreath laying ceremony at Biloxi National Cemetery

Today volunteers unloaded wreaths in preparation for the annual Wreath Laying Ceremony this coming Saturday.

Since 2013, wreaths have been placed on every grave site in the Biloxi National Cemetery to remember and honor those laid to rest there.

The first year fundraising efforts led to 3,000 wreaths with bows being placed. This year, more than 25,000 wreaths will be placed and more than $5,000 was raised to purchase new bows for the wreaths. Riemann Family Funeral Home President Chad Riemann said, “We live in a community who values our veterans. We have a large veteran community here and thanking them for their services is something that we all need to do, not just at Christmas, but throughout the year as well.”

The wreath laying ceremony will take place Saturday, December 3rd at 11 a.m. at the Biloxi National Cemetery.
