Volunteers help plant trees at Brickyard Bayou Park in Gulfport

GULFPORT, Miss. (WXXV)- Volunteers are helping Gulfport grow after spending the day planting trees at a local park.

WXXV News 25’s Brynne Baxley attended the event and has more on this effort.

After planting 70 trees in January, the tree planting project completed phase two on Thursday at Brickyard Bayou Park.

The City of Gulfport and the Green Infrastructure Center are working together and with volunteers on this project.

These efforts are to provide more canopy and help Gulfport grow.

While phase three is not until fall of 2026, officials with the project say they could always use extra volunteers.
