Volunteers clean up Coast beaches as part of Star Spangled Cleanup

GULF COAST, Miss. (WXXV)- After the fireworks subsided Friday night, people across the Coast woke up bright and early Saturday to clean up beach and firework debris on local beaches.

It was all part of the Mississippi Coastal Cleanup Program’s Star Spangled Cleanup event.

Just in the City of Long Beach alone, volunteers picked up 380 pounds of litter from the city’s shoreline.

Community clubs, organizations, and individuals just wanting to lend a helping hand made all of this possible.
