Volunteers clean up at Pascagoula River Audubon Center

Volunteers from Mississippi Power, Chevron, and Ingalls Shipbuilding were out this morning cleaning up in the community.

The volunteers started at 8:30 and spent the morning at the Pascagoula River Audubon Center for a spring cleanup.

They power washed concrete, cleaned the wood around trees, cleaned out landscape areas and replaced some plants.

Katie Walsh Fetzer with the Pascagoula River Audubon Center says this support from local companies is a tremendous help in furthering the center’s core mission. “Helping our environment, to not just spruce it up, but really it’s moving some of the progress forward that makes the Audubon Center the Audubon Center. For example, removing invasive species.”

Crews spent the morning raking, weeding, power washing, and doing trimming all across the property.
