Volunteer Fire Assistance applications open
The Mississippi Forestry Commission announced their Volunteer Fire Assistance program grants are now open.
The program provides 50-50 matching fund grants to help eligible rural volunteer fire departments purchase wildland firefighting equipment such as radios, pumps, hoses, and hand tools.
Volunteer departments eligible for the grant include those that serve a rural community with a population of 10,000 or less.
The deadline to apply is March 4, 2026.
