Virginia College Outreach and Assistance Session

Former Virginia College students gathered at the advanced manufacturing and technology center in Gulfport to try and get back on track to receive a degree or certification at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College.

Several deans and faculty members attended the session to answer student questions regarding credit hours and transcripts. Financial aid was also a major concern for students wondering about loan forgiveness and scholarships.

Staff members from Virginia College were also in attendance for moral support of students trying to figure out the next step of their education. Virginia College in Mobile Program Director Robert Wright said, “I’m here to help them try to come to the campus here in Mississippi so they can further their education and go out for their career.”

Executive Vice President of Enrollment Management and Student Success Carmen Walters said, “We have something that can help them in this process. We have a program or something they can take that will help them through this process.”

Students are currently going through the application process. Once staff members return from holiday break in January, students will be advised and placed in specific areas of concentration so they can have success.
