Vietnam Remembrance Ceremony March 29th at Biloxi National Cemetery
Tomorrow is the first Vietnam Veterans Day in the state of Mississippi. Here locally you can honor those who served at a Vietnam Remembrance Ceremony. Crusaders for Veterans is hosting the ceremony at the Biloxi National Cemetery.
The Vietnam War was an unpopular war and many of the veterans returning to the United States when it was over were treated poorly. President of Crusaders for Veterans Kevin Cuttill tells News 25 ceremonies like the one planned for tomorrow provide recognition that is long overdue. “It’s an emotional thing. You got guys who went over there and I don’t know if you ever heard of what happened over there with the jungles and everything about it. It was horrendous. One of my closest friends was a tunnel rat. The stories he’s got are horrendous and they come home to an ungrateful country. For 44 years they’ve suffered, let’s welcome them home, let’s get it settled in and say ‘hey, we are family.’”
The ceremony will begin at 10 a.m. tomorrow at the Biloxi National Cemetery. It is free and open to the public.
