Victim identified, suspect arrested in fatal hit and run in Gulfport
The victim in a fatal hit and run in Gulfport has been identified and a suspect has been taken into custody.
According to Harrison County Coroner Brian Switzer, the victim has been identified as 21-year-old Mohammad Abraheem of Jordan. He had family in the Roanoke, Virginia area.
On February 26, 2025, the Gulfport Police Department arrested 40-year-old Lester Kashif Harrien, charging him with two counts of Leaving the Scene of an Accident Resulting in Death and one count of Tampering with Physical Evidence.
On February 25, 2025, at approximately 12:41 a.m., officers responded to a hit-and-run accident involving two pedestrians near Highway 49 and Crossroads Parkway. Upon arrival, officers discovered Abraheem deceased and another suffering from injuries. The injured victim was transported to a local hospital where he was listed in critical condition.
Detectives later identified Harrien as the driver of the vehicle that struck the victims. He fled the scene without stopping to assist or provide aid.
Harrien was processed and transported to the Harrison County Adult Detention Center, where he is being held in lieu of his bond.
