Veterans Mardi Gras Parade
Patients at the VA were all smiles this morning during their very own Mardi Gras parade.
Dozens of veterans caught beads and watched as classic cars wrapped around the Gulf Coast Veterans Health Care System campus. Floats rolled along the main drag which was followed by a king and queen recognition ceremony.
Patients who attended the parade tell News 25 it is a special time for veterans who are disabled or not as active to enjoy the carnival season. U.S. Air Force veteran Eli Piety said, “It’s very good for the community. I mean, even for someone like myself who doesn’t live far from here to get involved in community things for veterans. You don’t have to be fully disabled or here to enjoy the benefits of the VA.”
The patients at the Biloxi VA also enjoyed king cake after the parade rolled through.
