Veterans for Veterans Golf Tournament at Bayou Vista Golf Course

Golfers took swings to support children left behind by those who proudly served our country.

The Bayou Vista Golf Course hosted a golf tournament supporting the Special Operations Warrior Foundation in light of Veterans Day.

The Special Operations Warrior Foundation is a nonprofit organization founded in 1980 that provides college scholarships and educational counseling to the surviving children of special operations personnel killed in the line of duty.

Tournament Director Taco Sanchez has a personal connection to the Special Operations Warrior Foundation. “I was there on that day when it was an ugly night on the desert on April 24th, 1980. As long as I breathe, I’m going to make sure we do everything we can to raise money for the Special Operation Warrior Foundation.”

Sanchez went on to say that they buried eight great Americans that night, leaving 16 kids behind. He says he was going to make sure they were taken care of.
