Veterans Day Ceremony at MGCCC Jefferson Davis Campus

Veterans Day was celebrated a day early with a ceremony at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College’s Jefferson Davis campus.
The Coastal Vibrations Choir kicked off the ceremony by singing the national anthem. Campus leaders, staff, and students gathered around the flag pole on campus as several keynote speakers addressed the crowd, reminding them of the sacrifices veterans have made for our country.
The tribute honored veterans and active duty military, some of which are students at MGCCC. MGCCC Instructor Brian Carriere said, “We want to take some time out in our activity period to not just honor our students who are here who are active duty, but remind them that veterans are still important, not just here on the Coast with our military installations, but to our society at large.”
MGCCC Counselor Lori Allemand said, “We’re honoring our veterans for the sacrifices they have made for us and for our country, that if it wouldn’t be for our veterans and we wouldn’t be able to dream and make our dreams come true because they give us the freedoms we have today.”
MGCCC’s three coastal campuses celebrated Veteran’s Day a day early this year because of the higher student population on campus on Thursdays.
