Veteran Stand Down event in Biloxi

First Missionary Baptist Church in Gulfport spent their Saturday morning giving back to the homeless veterans in the community.
The third annual Veteran Stand Down event offered several services such as health care screenings, counseling, legal services, and free haircuts.
Project Manager Robert Boone tells News 25 it is part of their role being missionaries for people and looking at different ways to impact the community. “We look at this whole event as a hand up, not a hand out. That way we’re able to reach out to those who are less fortunate because we know without the grace of God it could be us.”
For this year’s event, the First Missionary Baptist Church was able to serve more than 200 homeless people in the community and provide them with a hot meal.
