Despite a slight pause during their vows, 91-year-old retired Navy Chief William “Wild Bill” Allen tied the knot with his 76-year-old Lady Love Jamie S. Shubert at the Armed Forces Retirement Home Chapel on Sunday. Just four days after their wedding, they shared their first holiday meal together as man and wife. “I eat here very often with him, but a holiday, today, the food today was excellent,” said Jamie.
It all started at the Fiddler’s Green on karaoke night. “It was friendship at first sight and it was friendship for a long time,” said Jamie.
But then it grew into something more. “We dated and we enjoyed each other and then something happened,” said William.
After four proposals, William “Wild Bill” Allen finally got a yes. Now, just a few days into their marriage, these newlyweds are still learning about each other. “The hardships of our marriage, I think it’s that I talk too much,” said Jamie.
But like any good relationship, it’s all about give and take. This love story clearly shows that it is never too late to find love. “Absolutely not, I waited about 40 years now for him to come along,” said Jamie.
So powerful it can cause even a 91-year-old man known as Wild Bill to settle down. “I don’t know anything else that can make me any happier than I am now because I believe I am as close to paradise as I am going to get on this earth,” said William.
