Vancleave Bulldogs looking to capture 2nd MHSAA baseball State Championship in Pearl, MS
Vancleave and the Bulldogs baseball team will hit the road for Pearl, MS on Wednesday for their 3-game 5A State Championship series against the Lafayette Commodores.
Game one is on Wednesday at 7:00 PM, game two is on Friday – also at 7:00 – and game three, if necessary, will be on Saturday with the time to be determined. The Bulldogs have only lost one game since the playoffs began and are looking to capture their 2nd state championship in school history and their first since 2018.
No matter the outcome, Bulldogs seniors Robert Tinson and Tanner Willis spoke on how cool of an opportunity this is for their team.
“It is a little bit of nerves, but to be able to come out here and do it one last time…no pressure to play the sport you love and get after it,” says Tinson. “It feels great to just be able to come out here and play the sport that you love and playing since we were real young. Just ready to be out there.”
“This group is something special,” Willis added. “Being a small part of the success of Vancleave going to state for the second time. Hopefully we can pull out a win. If not, I mean win or lose, this team is great, I love these guys. Each and every day we put in the work.”
