Vancleave Baseball advances to round two after winning 8-inning thriller over Brookhaven 10-9!
The reigning 5A State Champions of Vancleave High School hosting Brookhaven in do or die game three to see who would advance to the next round.
Senior Carter Doz with the nod on the mound. He started off on fire striking two in the top of the first.
Aiden Tapp starting things off for the Bulldogs with a single, but was stranded there to end the inning.
Panthers entered the batters box in the 2nd hot scoring four total runs.
Vancleave answers in the bottom of the second with a standing double by Dane McElroy, a sac fly by Kyle Capers, ground-rule double by Max Bates, and then an RBI hit by pitch from Hunter Harper. This would cut Brookhaven’s lead in half 2-4.
After fighting tooth and nail coming from behind the entire game, the Bulldogs went to battle for 8 innings. A walk-off sacrifice fly by Junior Dane McElroy would seal the deal as Martin Shaw scores the go-ahead run for the Bulldogs. Vancleave advances to round two of playoffs after defeating Brookhaven 10-9! Their next game will take place on Friday, May 2nd.
