Van fire and explosion in Harrison County

Residents around Owl Roost Road in Harrison County were awakened by two explosions early Saturday morning.
Units from the Cuevas Fire and Harrison County Fire Services responded around 3:15 a.m. Saturday morning to the report of the explosions and found a van belonging to a medical supply company on the side of the road fully involved in fire. The explosions, which ripped the roof off the van and were heard several blocks away, are believed to have been caused by compressed oxygen bottles stored in the van.
The van appeared to have been driven into a ditch, but no one was found around the area. No injuries were reported.
The Harrison County Fire Marshals’ Office and Harrison County Sheriff’s Department are investigating the incident.
