Valentine’s Day on the Coast
Whether it’s a relaxing day on the beach or simply watching movies at home, there’s plenty of ways to celebrate Valentine’s Day. News 25’s Kendra Turley caught up with couples along the Coast to see how they spent the national day of love.
Flowers, gifts, and public displays of affection: these are just a few ways people celebrate with their significant other on Valentine’s Day.
Meet Katie and Chris! They’ve been dating for a little over a year and a half and had plenty in store for the national day of love. “We’re getting a couple’s massage at Massage Envy after a Valentine’s lunch and then we’re going to be going to two movies tonight.”
Ethel and Dennis Tillman have been married for 36 years. The Memphis couple decided to shake things up this year by taking a spontaneous trip to the Coast to casino hop, spend time on the beach and play arcade games. “His birthday is February 12th and then we coincide with Valentine’s Day for me,” said Ethel. “She likes to play and I like to sleep,” said Dennis.
After spending the past couple of weeks cooped up inside the house recovering from surgery, Jack Carter decided to step out for an afternoon lunch date with his wife Beverly. “We came early and we’re using our gift card that our children gave us for Christmas.”
Even though all three couples spent the day doing different activities, all agree that the perfect recipe for Valentine’s Day is just a little bit of compromise and a whole lot of love. “If you stick to your vows that you say when you get married, you’ll find that Valentine’s Day is just like any other day. You’ll love each other regardless,” said Dennis Tillman.
