The Coronavirus variant, Omicron, has been found in Mississippi and now, the team at Memorial Hospital will host a few vaccine pop-up events to help combat the virus.

The first pop-up site will be held on December 16 from 9:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at the Gaston Point Community Center in Gulfport.

The second pop-up will be on December 17 from 9:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. at the Frank G. Gruich Center in Biloxi.

Both events are open to all community members and will offer all doses of Pfizer, Moderna, and J&J vaccines.

Matt Walker, the Vice President of Clinic Operations for Memorial said the vaccines are working. “It does appear to be at least mitigating the symptoms of Omicron, so the vaccines are working,” said Walker. “They are keeping people from having to be hospitalized, which is the main reason to be vaccinated.”
