USPS Prepares to Deliver Holiday Cheer

The U.S. Postal Service is gearing up for the busiest season of the year.
They’re ready to deliver a lot of cheer in the form of about 16 billion cards, letters and packages this holiday season, about a 12 percent increase in volume compared to last year.
They’re currently hiring seasonal employees to take on the load and expanding hours throughout the holiday season.
USPS predicts Monday, December 19th will be the busiest mailing and shipping day for holiday packages and letters, but there are plenty of other dates you should be aware of if you want your packages to arrive by Christmas Day.
USPS Gulfport Acting Postmaster Cherie Ferguson said, “For shipping international, they need to try to get everything in the mail by December 9th. On December 15th is the last day you can ship retail ground and then December 21st for priority mail. If you’re a last minute shopper, you can mail on December 23rd priority express and get it there by Christmas.”
If you want to avoid the long lines, you can skip the trip by ordering shipping supplies and scheduling a pick up directly from their website. To ship online and to find out more information about expanded hours, visit www.usps.com.
