USM Plays Kentucky Tomorrow Night

We’re one day away from the first Saturday of college football in 2016. The Southern Miss Golden Eagles will start off the season in Lexington as they take on the Kentucky Wildcats.
The Golden Eagles have been adjusting to a new system in 2016 as Todd Monken’s successful 2015 season landed him a job with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
First year head coach Jay Hopson has used the offseason to get his squad ready for another run at the Conference USA title.
Fifth year senior Jerry McCorvey missed out on last season with injuries, but he’s set to make an impact on the front of Hopson’s defensive scheme in 2016. “This camp’s been different because we have a new staff. Coach Hop is more of a defensive minded person I’d like to say. We’ve just been going hard every day since camp. I mean, we’ve been studying hard, scout teaming them very hard. I think it’s going to be a good Saturday this Saturday.”
Kickoff for the Southern Miss-Kentucky game is set for 6 p.m.
