USM Homecoming Festivities Underway
Saturday night the USM football team plays hosts to Marshall. Homecoming is in full flight for the Eagles at the University of Southern Mississippi’s Gulf Park campus.
As a USM tradition, a group of students were out painting the “Little Rock” at the campus in Long Beach. USM students say the Rock stands as an inspiration for motivation to keep continuing with their studies.
Amanda Walley, a junior studying social work at the Gulf Park campus, tells News 25 you can tell it is homecoming week just by the feeling in the air. “It feels very welcoming during Homecoming week. A lot of people, a lot of the clubs and organizations come together to work on the floats. It just shows you the community USM really has, even here on the Gulf Coast.”
Students are gearing up for tomorrow’s golf cart parade which starts at 12:15. The big game is on Saturday.
