USM Football: Nick Mullens Injury Update
Another injury to keep an eye on is the right thumb of USM quarterback Nick Mullens, who briefly left during the fourth quarter of Saturday’s game before returning on the following drive.
Coach Jay Hopson considers the four year starter questionable for Saturday, but seems optimistic regarding his availability. “He didn’t break it, but he came back in and played the fourth quarter and the third quarter. He’s a tough guy. I mean, he threw the ball well too. Right now, I think he’s going to be fine.”
If he is able to suit up, Saturday could be a special day for Mullens. He needs 297 yards and five touchdowns to pass Austin Davis on the all-time charts at Southern Miss.
