USM beats Illinois Chicago

It was an exciting game in Hattiesburg today for the first game of the NCAA Regionals.
Host Southern Miss faced off against Illinois Chicago in the double elimination tournament. Number one seed USM fell in a hole early, but were able to rebound in the sixth to tie it up at six a piece. The Golden Eagles added two more in the inning to take the lead 8 to 6.
UIC was not done and kept things interesting, adding a run late. The Golden Eagles had their backs against the wall in the ninth as the Flames loaded the bases, but USM kept their hot streak alive, holding off UIC to get the win 8-7.
