USM Baseball Earns Preseason Honors

A senior loaded bunch last year, the Southern Miss baseball team lost a lot from its conference championship team, but the Golden Eagles still have a lot coming back for their encore.
Today, USM had three players named to the All-Conference USA Preseason Team, only one of which is a senior. That being Dylan Burdeaux who hit lead-off for the Black and Gold last season, also expected to move from right field to first base for 2017.
The two juniors are a pair of former teammates at Oak Grove, starting with the recovering slugger Taylor Braley who missed half of last season, but still got double digit home runs.
Then there is Kirk McCarty who was the day one starter by the time regionals rolled around.
USM was also picked to finish third by the league’s coaches.
