USM and Harrison County Libraries teaming up to help those in need
The University of Southern Mississippi School of Social Work and the Harrison County Library are working together to provide assistance to those in need.
Public libraries are experiencing an increase in patrons needing assistance with housing, food benefits, and job searches.
This is the second academic year Southern Miss has provided social work internships within the public library system.
The partnership not only benefits those in need, it benefits senior citizens as well.
Library staff noticed senior citizens needing help with computers and other technology, but the partnership offers a computer class with a staff ready to help.
