USM Alum Brian Dozier signs with San Diego Padres

There’s always room for a World Series champion on a major league roster. Southern Miss alum Brian Dozier has a new home with the San Diego Padres, fresh off his World Series run with the Washington Nationals in 2019.

Dozier has been without a contract this entire off-season and finally decided on a minor league deal with the Padres that will turn into 2.2 million dollars, assuming he makes the Major League roster.

The former Golden Eagle chose San Diego with the promise of regular at-bats at second base after falling into a platoon during the second half of last season.

Dozier turns 33 in May, but still clobbered 20 home runs a year ago.
