Updated Body Cams for Biloxi Police

The Biloxi Police Department is asking for updated body cameras that would be no cost to taxpayers.
Police Chief John Miller says the current cameras have served their purpose but do not have enough storage space for the amount of footage they use. The new cameras would be paid for by drug forfeiture money and they would be high tech enough to turn on by themselves. “The cameras themselves have several features on there that we like. One is an officer down, if his body camera isn’t on and he goes to the ground for whatever reason, it automatically comes on. If he turns his blue lights in his car on, we can set it to come on then. We can set it to come on when he opens his door,” said Chief Miller.
Biloxi Mayor Andrew ‘FoFo’ Gilich is also asking the council to authorize the purchase of portable radar speed signs to help make people in the community aware of their speed throughout the city. These would also be purchased using drug forfeiture funds.
