The all-clear has been given in Jackson County after an unexploded military artillery shell was removed from an area near Lake Forest subdivision.

Sheriff’s Department spokeswoman Marcia Hill said a team of military personnel from Pensacola removed the shell from the area off Seaman Road.

The roads were reopened just after 4 p.m.

Earlier in the day, Jackson County Sheriff’s Department asked residents to avoid the area across Lake Forest subdivision off Seaman Road.

It is closed while the Biloxi Police Bomb Squad attempted to remove what appeared to be an unexploded military artillery shell. It was discovered earlier this morning by someone cutting grass.

As of 12:30 p.m., the Biloxi Bomb Squad had left the area and Jackson County Sheriff’s deputies waited for military personnel from Pensacola, Florida, to arrive to help with the unexploded military artillery shell.
