UPDATE: Operations continue as normal at Ingalls, enhanced security presence on site out of an abundance of caution

PASCAGOULA, Miss. (WXXV)-Operations continue as normal as an investigation is underway after a threatening note was found at Ingalls Shipbuilding in Pascagoula Thursday morning. An enhanced security presence is being maintained across the shipyard out of caution.
Officers responded to Ingalls Thursday morning after a note was found inside one of the buildings indicating potential violence.
Pascagoula police officers responded to the scene and began investigating. K9 units, as well as the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, were deployed to assist with a thorough search of the facility.
Ingalls Shipbuilding released a statement early Thursday morning regarding the incident.
The statement is as follows: “Earlier today, Ingalls Shipbuilding management discovered a written communication that was perceived as a potential threat. Our team immediately notified local law enforcement and initiated an investigation into the matter. Operations at the shipyard continue as normal, while local law enforcement work to determine the origin of the threat. We are cooperating closely with law enforcement to address this incident with the utmost seriousness and to ensure the safety of our people. “
Ingalls shared another update at noon saying: “Ingalls continues to maintain an enhanced security presence across the shipyard out of an abundance of caution. Operations are continuing as normal as there is no known ongoing threat at this time. However, the safety of our shipbuilders remains our highest priority. We remain in close coordination with the Pascagoula Police Department and are awaiting any additional updates as their investigation continues. We appreciate the professionalism of our security team and our local law enforcement partners, and we will provide further information as appropriate.”
Ingalls is asking if anyone has any information about who may have written the threatening note to contact the Pascagoula Police Department.
