Update on Gulfport – Biloxi International Airport email threat

More than 200 employees and passengers at Gulfport-Biloxi International Airport were evacuated this morning after receiving an email threat.

The airport made a statement on Facebook saying out of an abundance of caution, an evacuation was ordered about 9:30 AM.

A Sun Country and a Delta flight were put on hold while the security sweep took place.

Gulfport Police say other airports in the state also received the same emailed threat.

Gulfport-Biloxi International Airport was given the all-clear and allowed people back into the terminal by 11:20 this morning.

“We were able to get our first responders here in a very prompt fashion,” said Clay Williams, the executive director of the Gulfport-Biloxi International Airport. “We want to thank them for their response, they were very thorough in helping us evacuate the terminal building for a brief period of time so they could do a thorough sweep of the area and get passengers back in safety, securely, and back on their flights.”
