Update on City of Biloxi beautification efforts
BILOXI, Miss. (WXXV)- The City of Biloxi is looking to the future with a new plan to enhance its coastal beauty.
City council members met Tuesday to discuss a beautification master plan along with a proposal to honor a local hero.
Biloxi City Council members gathered Tuesday afternoon, focused on improving the city’s look and feel for both residents and visitors.
At the center of the discussion, a new beautification master plan aimed at enhancing public spaces, green areas, and coastal landmarks across the city.
Councilmembers also reviewed a proposal from the beautification commission to name the area just south of the Biloxi Lighthouse as the Fred Haise Landing.
The name would honor Haise, a Biloxi native and former NASA astronaut best known for his role in the Apollo 13 mission.
While the plan is still in its early stages, officials say community input will play a key role as it moves forward.
