Update on live oaks on Front Beach

The three oak trees on Front Beach that have caused an uproar between residents and the city are still standing tonight.

The City of Ocean Springs stepped up this morning and gave the crews, who were already in place, a stop-work order. Workers told our media partner, the Sun Herald, that they received a permit to demolish the trees after the property owners were given approval during a contentious four-hour board of alderman meeting last night.

Jaklyn Wrigley, a local attorney who lives across the street and has been fighting the trees removal, told the Sun Herald a new injunction is being finalized and will be filed later today.
