Update on human remains found in Desoto National Forest
Still no official word yet on the identity of the person whose remains were found in the Desoto National Forest, but the remains have been sent to the state crime lab.
A hunter found the remains on Christmas Day along the Tuxachanie Hiking Trail in the Desoto National Forest near Saucier. The Harrison County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the case.
Harrison County Coroner Gary Hargrove tells News 25 there is not a positive ID confirmed at this point. It also still remains unclear if the person died of natural causes or if foul play was involved.
