Update on Flooded Business in Gulfport

Melissa’s Bakery in Gulfport is slowly, but surely, working to get back on its feet after 19 inches of water flooded the shop last Thursday.
The building is all dried out now, but they’ve had to rip out two feet of drywall and install all new flooring, not to mention the thousands of dollars’ worth of equipment that was damaged. Unfortunately, Melissa’s Bakery had no flood insurance, so when the waters receded, so did the money. That’s why they’ve set up a GoFundMe account. Owner Melissa Fischer said, “We know one of our big coolers is gone and we think the other one’s probably on its way out. And we’ve got a freezer in the back that took on water, as well. Of course, we lost a lot of other small electronics. We just want to thank the people, all the out pour of how can we help, people calling and prayers. That means a lot.”
If you’d like to pitch in and help Melissa’s Bakery in their rebuilding process, you can visit their flood recovery fundraising page at GoFundMe.com/24DEXMNH.
Fischer hopes to be back in her store front by next Saturday.
