Until Valhalla Ruck March traveled along Highway 90 over the weekend-Jack

Raising awareness about veteran suicides, more than a hundred men and women walked 13 miles carrying up to 40 pounds on their backs.

Competitors in the Until Valhalla Ruck March traveled along Highway 90. Those 13 miles equal 22 kilometers, representing the daily suicide rate of United States veterans.

The march aims to raise awareness as onlookers watched the athletes lug 30 or 40 pounds toward West Side Park. Jourdan Natale with Danger-22 said, “This year’s turnout has exceeded expectations. This is actually the largest event we’ve had so far. I believe we were right at about 150 participants, walkers, runners, ruckers. We also actually had a couple of people who already completed theirs. They did it over the week and couldn’t come in. They reached out to let us know they were going to do it ahead of time, so that was pretty awesome.”
