United Way of South MS awards grants to local organizations
Every two years, the United Way of South Mississippi honors charities making a difference in their communities.
The United Way of South Mississippi gave out more than $430,000 to 13 organizations at the Community Impact Grant Awards.
The funding will go to help charities and nonprofits help those in need of education, health, family, and financial assistance.
It was United Way of South MS Board President Scott Gregory’s first time being a part of the Community Impact Counsel and he says divvying up the funds was quite the assignment. “There’s only so much funding we have in these cycles. So, it’s a very difficult task to be able to decide where those funds go because everyone of those organizations deserves so much more, even than what they’re getting with the work that they do.”
99 cents of every dollar collected by United Way of South Mississippi stays local.
