United Methodist Church blood drive in Biloxi

Our United Methodist Women hosted a blood drive at their church on Saturday.

The church started the day by hosting a $5 breakfast to about 50 people at 7 a.m. The church normally holds a breakfast the first Saturday of every month.

Mississippi Blood Services then came to the church at 8 a.m. to host the blood drive.

The church held the blood drive in conjunction with the breakfast to try to bring more people to both events.

Pastor Larry Pickering says the church was asked to host the drive due to a blood shortage in Mississippi. “Oh, it’s great. That’s what we as Christians are called to do is to help each other, to share in the love of Jesus Christ. So, this is what we are trying to do and so far, so good. God has blessed us with a great breakfast and it looks like it’s going to be a good turnout for the blood drive as well.”

All of the blood donated at the drive is expected to be used for patients in Mississippi.
