United Cajun Navy comes to Moss Point
The United Cajun Navy is in Moss Point with everything from tarps to dog treats!
The United Cajun Navy is a nonprofit based out of Baton Rouge. They provide care during natural disasters and they’ve partnered with past Moss Point Alderman Chuck Redmon’s organization ‘Be the Change.’
Cajun Navy volunteer Colin Bush reached out to Redmond and they were able to organize an entire week’s worth of help for Moss Point.
Nearly four pallets of supplies were dropped off today at Charlotte Hyatt Elementary School and distributed to homes by volunteers. These supplies include stuff to clean with, tarps, dog food, and more. Bush said, “I reached out to Chuck because I’m all about community outreach. This is our home, the coast area. So, anytime there’s storms in other states I always get my crew together and we go out and help them.”
“We’re trying to make it easy enough so that the homeowners don’t have to leave unless they have to.”
Mayor Knight said, “It’s people helping people. And the more we have of that, the more we encourage each other, the more we inspire each other. If we work together, we can get our city back on its feet.”
The Cajun Navy and Be the Change will be back tomorrow with more supplies and are planning to cook a hot meal Saturday and Sunday.
