Unified Special Ed Basketball Game

Two special teams tipped off in a basketball game at St. Martin High School tonight.
The Ocean Springs High School special ed unified basketball team played against St. Martin students in an intense game. The crowd went crazy seeing players score points for their team. The Mississippi Special Olympics were in attendance, as well as other groups hoping to add special ed unified basketball to their high school.
Billy Dungan, executive director of the Dream Program, said, “Last year, we teamed with Ocean Springs School District to create the unified basketball program here at Ocean Springs and this is in its second year. We’ve got about eight players that played last year that’s also playing this year. We’re looking forward to spreading this around.”
Representatives from Pascagoula High School were also in attendance checking out the game. Dungan says he hopes special ed unified basketball will spread coast-wide by next year.[mappress mapid=”2126″]
