Unified Basketball Program Comes to Ocean Springs
A first in the state basketball program is providing hoop dreams on the Coast. The Dream Program has partnered with Ocean Springs High School to create an opportunity for basketball players with and without intellectual disabilities.
The Unified Basketball Program has been practicing for the past few weeks, preparing for their first game Monday night at 7:15 p.m. Ocean Springs High is the first school in the state to offer unified basketball. This program works to foster understanding and unity by allowing players without disabilities, called volunteers, to play organized games alongside players with special needs.
