Unfinished Business: St. Stanislaus Looks to get over the Hump in 2016

For the first time in school history, the St. Stanislaus Rock-A-Chaws have won their district in back to back seasons. With the regular year coming to a close on Friday, SSC is starting to get the brief cases ready to take care of some unfinished business.
For the last two years, 4-A South has run through St. Stanislaus, but Class 4-A as a whole still belongs to the two-time reigning state champions.
The south poses its own challenges with schools like Poplarville and East Central gunning for the bull’s eye. Head Coach Bill Conides said, “One of the things that we talked about at the beginning of the season, and we’ve done so the last three seasons, is the target on our back. I think we play better when the target is on our back. We’ve got a lot of teams, some teams that we beat last year that are going to try to beat us and want to do everything in their power to beat us.”
That same target also applies to senior quarterback Myles Brennan. The LSU commit is now the all-time leader in the state of Mississippi for passing yards and touchdowns. The guy that used to hold those records goes by the name of Dylan Favre. Favre was the last and only quarterback in program history to win a state title back in 2009. He’s got some praise for the man trying to repeat that history in 2016. “He was one of the ball boys when we played and now he’s breaking every record that I ever set. I’d much rather it be somebody I know and somebody at my school, but everything I’ve seen and read, he’s got a really bright future and he’s doing really good things.”
“It’s pretty special. I remember coming out here when I was in fifth and sixth grade and seeing Dylan play. He was tearing it up. I never really pictured myself being in his shoes and now that it is happening and I’ve broken those records, I am grateful that it’s still here at Stanislaus,” said senior quarterback Myles Brennan.
But keeping it in the family will only mean so much without that gold ball. “It would be tremendous, it would encapsulate everything. This is what we’ve worked for to this point. We haven’t gotten it yet and we’d certainly love to finish it off well,” said Conides.
SSC is hosting Pass Christian in the regular season finale at 7 p.m. on Friday.
