Unattended Veterans Service at Biloxi National Cemetery
The Biloxi National Cemetery aimed to give several veterans a proper home-going ceremony during its monthly Unattended Veterans Service.
The ceremony honors veterans who did not receive a proper service when they were laid to rest at the cemetery. Representatives from each branch of the military stood proudly as the Keesler Air Force Base Honor Guard performed military honors.
The cemetery will continue to host these ceremonies on the final Thursday of each month. Vietnam Veteran Earl Tregre said, “When you came back from Vietnam, we got no respect. We were criticized for being there. That’s why I feel we should respect all of those now and give them some type of respect and homecoming when they go to the man upstairs.”
The Biloxi National Cemetery is the final resting place of over 23,000 veterans and their family members.
