Uber and Lyft now allowed on Seabee Base
Two of the most popular ride-sharing apps are now allowed on the Seabee Base.
Uber and Lyft are now allowed on the Seabee Base for the first time starting today. Previously if someone living on base was to use a ride-sharing app they would be dropped off at Pass Road Gate and then they had to walk over two miles to get back to their living quarters.
Now, the Uber or Lyft will be able to drive them right back to where they live. Public Affairs Office Brian Lamar said, “So it is important in a safety standpoint and just a convenience standpoint as well. But safety because a lot of our troops when they go out, they are encouraged to practice safe responsibilities. So this gives them an easier avenue to get on base so they don’t have to worry about how they will get on base after having a couple of drinks.”
Uber and Lyft drivers who want to drive on the Seabee Base will have to head into the Pass and ID Office on the base and fill out some paper work and get a background check.
