Uber driver charged with aggravated assault after running over disabled veteran in Ocean Springs

OCEAN SPRINGS, Miss. (WXXV)- An Uber driver has been charged with one count of aggravated assault after running over a pedestrian.

On July 18, officers with Ocean Springs Police Department responded to the service drive of the new Singing River Training Facility for the call of a pedestrian being run over.

When officers arrived, they determined Roderick Keys had run over the victim, who was identified as a disabled veteran.

It was discovered after speaking with the victim that he was taken to the wrong location.  The victim was supposed to be brought to the Singing River Imaging Center, not the Singing River Training Facility.

According to police, the victim was berated by Keys and told to walk to the other location. When the victim got out of the car, he walked in front of the car and was nudged by Keys with his car.

Officials also saying that Keys proceeded forward, striking the victim and knocking the victim down and running over him with the car.

The victim was transported to the hospital and is in stable condition.
