U.S Supreme Court denies stay of execution for Richard Jordan

With just two days to go until Richard Jordan’s scheduled execution at Parchman, the man convicted in the 1976 killing of a Gulfport woman received another denial today, this time from the country’s highest court.

The Supreme Court denied Jordan’s application for an emergency stay of execution today.

Jordan’s attorneys had filed the petition to the high court for consideration in late May.

This move from the court comes just days after a federal district court judge in Mississippi denied an injunction to block the execution.
